Job Description
The Counselor in Training Program is for teens aged 14-17 who will participate in leadership training, learn professional standards of work behavior, and gain the experience of working in a nonprofit youth development organization. CIT students will receive a biweekly stipend.
Essential Job Functions:
The ideal candidate for the CIT Program is energetic, responsible, outgoing, and a self-starter who will help lead daily activities that promote a fun, engaging, and positive environment. Under the direction of program leaders, CIT staff will assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their assigned groups within activities and throughout our virtual summer program to meet the intended ConnectiKids outcomes.
CIT interns will be trained in job readiness, workforce development skills and positive discipline, behavior management, and youth development. During the summer, CIT interns are expected to be role models for the campers in the program and grow in their level of experience, skills, and responsibility in relating to and working with student campers and adult staff.
CIT interns will assist staff in engaging students in the summer program. Activities will focus on personal development, self-empowerment, making good decisions, and the people and the world around them. Additional summer activities include book club, Science or Magic, Finding Nature’s Magic: A Mindful Pathway, Illusions and Magic of Art, and Magic of Baking!
Qualifications:
- Must be 14 -17 years of age.
- Ability to interact with co-workers and children of all age levels.
- Ability to listen, pay attention to detail, and follow directions carefully.
